She is most well known for being the lead singer and songwriter for the German band Nena. On April 6, 2011, Nena's official Facebook page reported that she was forced to shut down her Facebook account due to numerous sexually oriented and suggestive pictures and videos of Nena being posted to her Facebook page, some of which were done so by 'Nena Fanboys' and others by those claiming to be Nena's friends. Nena denied being a nudist and stated that the pictures were taken in her bathroom at home. On April 17, 2011, Nena and her manager had a hearing on the matter with the German Federal Bureau of Private Investigation and the media, but the hearing was cancelled because the Nena camp did not show up to the hearing. The Nena camp later stated that Nena was not doing any "misconduct" in the nude pictures and videos, and that they were meant to be "underground" pictures of Nena posing in a private way. The Nena camp later stated that the "hidden" pictures were meant to be for the people who were allowed to see the photos, and not to be a public display.
